NEW: Cowboys Show Your Colours Day

The North is being called upon to come together in a powerful show of pride, unity and colour this March, as the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys launch their new annual event in support of the club, Show Your Colours Day.

The club is calling on schools, businesses, community groups and clubs to register now, to host a fundraiser on the inaugural Show Your Colours Day on 20 March 2026.

Designed to boost pride in the North’s team and community spirit while raising funds for the Foundation’s life-changing programs, the event invites North Queenslanders to wear the colours that represent who they are and where they belong.

“This is a really exciting time of year as we prepare for the NRL season to kick-off and Show Your Colours Day is our way of bringing the whole community along that journey,” said Cowboys Fullback Scott Drinkwater.

“We understand what we do on the field impacts the entire region and that goes both ways – when we see and feel the swelling of support it really puts an extra skip in our step when we run out to represent the North.”

Former Cowboys player and now Community Programs Manager Ray Thompson said every gold coin donation would support the Foundation’s programs that strengthen education, employment, health and wellbeing.

"Cowboys Show Your Colours Day is a fantastic initiative – it's all about community spirit, bringing everyone together and showing your favourite colours," Thompson said.

"We’d love organisations, schools and workplaces to sign up and be part of it. Whether your passion is NRL, soccer, dance, Martial Arts or anything in between – we want to see every team represented across the region.

“For me, it’s definitely Cowboys Colours - I've got my debut jersey, I've got the last jersey played in, but I think I'm going to go with the 2015 grand final winning jersey, even though it's probably a little bit tight at the moment,” he said.

Kirwan State School was the first school to sign up to host a Show Your Colours Day fundraiser and received a special visit from Ray and current players Scott Drinkwater, Heilum Luki and Jaxon Purdue before they took off for Las Vegas.

Principal John Kratzmann said Show Your Colours Day aligned strongly with the school’s values around connection, inclusion and pride.

"A sense of belonging is super important – it creates wellbeing in our community. At Kirwan State School, we’re a very proud community asset and anything that benefits our community and the world around us, we’re part of it," he said.

"Every one of our students has something that makes them unique. So, for them to be able to wear whatever colours they associate with is amazing and gives a sense of ownership and belonging, while still contributing to an awesome cause."

Kirwan State School Captain Coner Berlin said students were excited to get involved.

"I understand it to be a charity fundraiser – a day where you can show your colours and what you like,” Coner said.

“I’m wearing both the Western Lions and the Cowboys combo because I love both. They're just my favourite teams, I love them. It makes me even more excited for that season to start. I feel like I’ve been waiting so long.”

Get involved: 1. Register your fundraiser here, 2. Wear your favourite team colours, 3. Donate a gold coin.
