Cowboys extend North Queensland trio

The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have agreed to contract extensions with Mackay-region trio Emma Manzelmann, Lily Peacock and Jasmine Peters.

Manzelmann and Peacock inked three-year extensions through 2028 and Peters a further two years through 2027.

A born and raised Mackay product, Manzelmann was the Cowboys inaugural NRLW signing for the club’s maiden campaign in 2023.

The 23-year-old has appeared in 30 NRLW games, including Newcastle’s 2022 grand final victory.

The speedy dummy-half has also played five games for Queensland and two for the Prime Minister’s XIII.

Peacock has emerged as one of the best young middle forwards in Queensland after a breakout 2024 campaign.

The 19-year-old made her NRLW debut late in the 2023 season and became a first-choice prop Ricky Henry’s team in 2024.

She was also drafted into the Queensland side as part of the extended squad for the final game of the 2024 series and started at prop in the Prime Minister’s XIII at the end of the season.

A Queensland Origin incumbent, Peters has appeared in all 18 games across the Cowboys’ first two NRLW campaigns, scoring seven tries.

The 22-year-old made her NRLW debut for the Gold Coast Titans in the delayed 2021 season.

Peters played all three games in this year's Origin series on the wing for Queensland, but has also starred at centre for the Cowboys.

“This is a proud day for our club to extend three women from the North Queensland region who have worked extremely hard to reach this point in their careers,” Cowboys NRLW Head Coach Ricky Henry said.

“Emma has become a representative player at a really young age and we believe she is about to enter the point in her career where she will develop as a leader.

“Lily is someone who I have loved watching develop over the last 12 months and she hasn’t even scratched the surface of her potential yet. She plays tough, she has great speed for a middle forward and has a great work ethic.

“Jasmine has already shown glimpses she can be a world class centre and she has improved both sides of her game immensely over the last 12 months. It was a great reward for her to play Origin this year and she is going to continue to get better.”
