The North Queensland rugby league community was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Pierina “Midge” Jackson, just months after her beloved husband Dan "Danny" also passed away.
Dan and Midge were true stalwarts of the game in and around NQ, and Townsville especially for many decades.
Danny was a well-known referee at club and Foley shield level who later moved into administration with the Townsville Referee’s association and became President of the Townsville and District Rugy league (TDRL) in 1979.
Midge, meanwhile, worked tirelessly at various levels of games administration and became a confidant to many as well as contributing to the preservation of the game’s history.
When the North Queensland Toyota Cowboy’s started they became ardent supporters and seldom, if ever, missed a home game.
Seated in Bay 8, right next to the tunnel at the old stadium, they would often be engaged in vibrant conversation with the legion of former players and colleagues who sought them out on game day.
