Jasmine Peters etched her name into North Queensland rugby league history books with a brilliant try in the North Queensland Gold Stars’ 2022 grand final victory. Peters will have the opportunity to add to that resume in 2023 and beyond after signing a three-year deal with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys NRLW side.
A homegrown North Queensland product, Peters played her junior football for the Norths Mackay Devils before graduating to the Cowboys Women’s Academy.
Despite still being just 20, Peters has already played two seasons of NRLW with the Gold Coast Titans, including a four-try campaign in just five games in 2021.
A powerful centre, Peters has represented the Indigenous All Stars on three occasions and played for the Queensland under 19s in both 2021 and 2022.
Peters appeared in all three seasons of the Gold Stars’ tenure in the BMD Premiership and scored three tries in the 2022 campaign, including a memorable first half effort in the fairytale grand final victory over the CQ Capras.
“It’s hard to believe ‘Jaz’ is still just 20 when you consider she’s a three-time Indigenous All-Star, who also brings Queensland under 19s and NRLW experience,” Cowboys NRLW Head Coach Ben Jeffries said.
“She was a foundation member of the NQ Gold Stars program who has come through the North Queensland pathways since high school.
“Jasmine will be a prominent figure in our backline, with her powerful carries and I know she is determined to test herself against the best within the NRLW space as she pushes for higher honours.”
