The North Queensland Toyota Gold Stars will take centre stage in the semi-finals of the BMD Premiership this Sunday, 29 May with the full backing of North Queensland Toyota Cowboys partner Civil Safety.
Civil Safety made their mark on women’s elite rugby league in northern Australia in 2022 by signing a one-year Cowboys partnership focused on shoring up the long-term success of the Gold Stars.
Cowboys Chief Commercial Officer Ross Aldridge said Civil Safety’s partnership would support education and career pathways for young rugby league talent in the Queensland Rugby League Women’s (QRLW) code.
“To acknowledge their support of our women’s rugby league development program the Civil Safety logo took pride of place on the bottom back of the Gold Stars jersey this season,” Mr Aldridge said.
“Civil Safety joined a host of proud partners including: Toyota, Bundaberg Rum, Westfund Health Insurance, AON, Townsville City Council, Cairns Regional Council and Mackay Regional Council,” he said.
“They’ll also appear on the Gold Stars’ playing kit as we go head-to-head with the Burleigh Bears at the Gold Coast in the semi-finals this weekend.”
Robert Kerridge, CEO of Civil Safety, said the partnership to support the Cowboys’ womens development program was ‘well timed’, ahead of the club’s bid for a 2023 NRLW team to be decided soon.
“The NRLW is on the cusp of a major expansion, with the Cowboys among several teams to lodge an application to enter a women’s squad from 2023, and we want to be part of that legacy in the North,” Mr Kerridge said.
“We’re also thrilled our first Cowboys sponsorship has backed the Gold Stars during a premiership campaign which has seen them earn a well-deserved position in the semi-finals,” he said.
Civil Safety is a registered training organisation (RTO #32381) providing health, safety, high risk and rescue training and assessment services throughout Queensland and online.
Gold Star jerseys, polos and training t-shirts are now available from the Cowboys Team Shop.
The North Queensland Gold Stars will take on the Burleigh Bears in the semi-finals of the BMD Premiership on Sunday, 29 May at 1.30pm at the Gold Coast.
