Morgan: It's been a long time coming for Jason

Ahead of Saturday's season opener against Penrith, the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys co-captain Michael Morgan spoke to Peter Psaltis' Wide World of Sports program on 4BC about the differences in training, Jason Taumalolo and Reuben Cotter.

"It's been a challenge. It has been a tough pre-season at times but from the start when Todd got here, the boys have been very open to change," Morgan said.

"Up until last week, we didn't know what the team would be. The competition for spots is good. Everyone is in a good headspace heading into the new season.

"It was probably a long time coming for [Jason Taumalolo]. He's been a leader amongst our team for a long time on the field.

"Someone who went really well through the pre-season and one of the best trainers we have is Reuben Cotter. He went from not being in the team in that Brisbane trial to starting at lock.
