The career prospects of 47 North Queenslanders are soaring after their successful completion of a Certificate III in Hospitality, the largest cohort to graduate through the Toyota Cowboys’ Dream, Believe, Achieve program.
This week's Graduation Day marked a big milestone for the group, who completed their studies in 2020 across three intakes in a COVID-affected year to be now taking their nationally-recognised vocational qualifications out into the workforce, with an impressive employment rate of 76%.
Dream, Believe, Achieve is the Cowboys’ training and employment program delivering accredited courses to unemployed and disadvantaged North Queenslanders.
Established in 2015, Dream, Believe, Achieve has successfully helped hundreds of North Queenslanders gain an industry-recognised qualification and find long-term employment.
Cowboys Chief Government and Community Relations Officer Fiona Pelling congratulated the students for overcoming the adversity of 2020 to be graduating with an industry qualification.
“Our first intake for the Certificate III in 2020 was close to completion when COVID first hit, and we had to hit pause on our training while we worked out our new normal,” Ms Pelling said.
“When we resumed, it was under very different circumstances and it’s a real credit to the students, our Allara Learning trainers and our industry partners that we were able to adapt and continue.
“The hard work of 2020 can be seen in the majority of our graduates having secured paid employment through their training, and we congratulate them on this wonderful achievement.”
Training in the Certificate III in Hospitality is proudly delivered by club training partner Allara Learning, and the program is funded by the Queensland Government through its ‘Skilling Queenslanders for Work’ initiative.
The next Dream, Believe, Achieve intake for Certificate III in Hospitality commences on Monday 19 April, with registrations closing on Monday 12 April.
Graduates will be work-ready with a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate, Responsible Gambling Services (RGS) Certificate and Food Safety Certificate among their new skillset.
Prospective students can also register for a Certificate III in Retail from 2 August, commencing on 30 August 2021.
