Four reasons to be excited for the 2021 season

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys superfan Josh Elmer has put together a list of four reasons our fans should be excited about the 2021 season.

1. New staff

Cowboys fans have every reason to be excited for 2021 with our new head coach Todd Payten. Despite being based in Australia, Payten coached the Warriors to six wins and had them on the cusp of a top-eight finish. Not only is there a change at head coach, but also with our assistant coaches, with Dean Young, Steve Georgallis and Ben Rauter all joining the club. Here’s hoping we’re a club on the rise in 2021!

2.Queensland Country Bank Stadium

While last year was a very disrupted season in our new home, it will be great to see fans streaming through the gates once again and creating memorable experiences in 2021. Whether it is our clash with the Brisbane Broncos, our Anzac Day weekend battle with the Canberra Raiders, or our matchup with the 2020 Premier Melbourne Storm, there is plenty of football to look forward to.

3. Young Talent

One of the bright spots of 2020 was seeing so many youngsters getting the opportunity to make their NRL debuts. Whether it was Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Tom Gilbert or Ben Condon, it was fun to see the future of the club on display. These players will only grow in the new season with the experience they’ve gained – can’t wait to see what they can do!

4. Competition for positions

You could say that only a handful of players have cemented a spot ahead of Round 1. This will provide great intrigue and entertainment as we move towards March 13 to see who Todd Payten will name in our season opener against the Penrith Panthers.  All eyes will be on our only trial against the Broncos to see who forces their way into the Round 1 team!

Acknowledgement of Country

North Queensland Cowboys respect and honour the Traditional Custodians of the land and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on.
