Take a look at Adopt-a-School TV!

They may be living, training and playing in the bubble but the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have found a way to still connect with their 49 school communities for Adopt-a-School.

With in-person visits cancelled for Term 2, the adopted Cowboys were determined to reach out to their schools during a challenging time for students, schools and families.

Adopt-a-School Q&A: Jason Taumalolo

With the support of program partner Adani Australia and the help of Zoom technology, the players have recorded their online 'visits', answering a wide range of questions from their schools which give some very unique insights, including:

  • Jason Taumalolo's new iso skill
  • Tom Gilbert's best joke
  • Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow's plans for his post-football career
  • Val Holmes's favourite book
  • Jake Clifford's mentors

Adopt-a-School Q&A: Michael Morgan

Visits usually see players blitzing Townsville schools on a scheduled day, with club ambassadors taking a road or ferry trip to schools in Ayr, Merinda, Home Hill, Gumlu and Palm Island.

The club works with program schools to engage their player in a variety of classroom or outdoor activities, building relationships and bringing additional impact to school messages.

Marian Catholic School's adopted Cowboy Michael Morgan said it was even more important to the playing group to continue their contact with the schools now.

"It has been a tough time all round, but we know our schools have had some big challenges with home schooling and readjusting to the classroom during the term.

"As a team we agreed that we needed to do whatever was required to continue our Adopt-a-School visits, and the video sessions have been fun and ensured we could still keep in touch.

"On behalf of the team, I'd like to say a big congratulations to all of our schools for their hard work this term and thank them for their continued support."

Schools viewing their videos also have the chance to win a Cowboys 2020 signed team football for their school, with entries closing at 3pm on Friday 26 June.
