Cowboys superstar Valentine Holmes is hitting top form at the right moment as he prepares to face his former team Cronulla for the first time.
Aside from wanting to get one over their old mate Holmes, the injury-hit Cronulla side are desperate to win after slipping to a third straight defeat against the Wests Tigers.
Cowboys: Second-rower Gavin Cooper is in doubt having sat out last round with a calf strain. Michael Morgan (shoulder) is still a few weeks away from being available for selection.
Sharks: Halfback Chad Townsend faces an uphill battle to play after suffering a low-grade hamstring strain. If Townsend is ruled out, Matt Moylan or Connor Tracey will likely replace him in the halves. Andrew Fifita is also in doubt due to a lingering knee problem.
Sharks coach John Morris conceded the Tigers rolled through his middles last week - and the task to contain North Queensland's big men is even harder with Jason Taumalolo leading the charge. Taumalolo is so good that Cronulla's pack will need to lift as a unit to nullify him - especially if Andrew Fifita doesn't play. The hard-running of Toby Rudolf and Braden Hamlin-Uele could be key.
