2019 season review: Dan Russell

Dan Russell was able to overcome the injury bug during his first season in North Queensland to become a strike weapon for Mackay in the Queensland Cup.

Russell had struggled to stay on the park in recent seasons, but missed just two games for the Cutters in 2019.

The Emerald product spent all but one game in the centres, before moving to the second row in the Cutters final game of the year.

Russell produced a number of strong performances through the season, but his best came in Round 4 against eventual grand finalists Wynnum Manly. Playing in the centres, Russell broke an enormous 11 tackles from just 14 carries and finished with 126 running metres.

The 23-year-old moves into the Cowboys’ top 30 in 2020.
