2019 season review: Kurt Baptiste

Recruited to add vital depth to the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ dummy-half stocks, Kurt Baptiste’s 2019 season was cruelled by injuries.

A hamstring strain saw the 28-year-old sit out a large chunk of the pre-season and the opening four rounds of the NRL season.

Baptiste made his Cowboys debut in Round 5 against the Storm and made an instant impression through his service out of dummy half and solid defence.

He remained a regular in Paul Green’s side for the next two months, earning a starting berth in the Magic Round clash against the Rabbitohs where he registered a huge 43 tackles in an outstanding performance.

Baptiste’s season was ended after sustaining an ACL tear playing for PNG in a mid-year Test against Samoa in June

Kurt departed the Cowboys at the end of the season after one year at the club.
