Tears and cheers for new graduates

"To me, this class was like a big family – now, it's my time to shine."

There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Cowboys Dream, Believe, Achieve students told their stories of challenge, achievement and personal growth on Graduation Day this week.

A total of 53 graduates took part in the largest North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ Dream, Believe, Achieve graduation ceremony to date, celebrating their achievement of industry-recognised skills and qualifications.

Tuesday’s ceremony, held at NRL Cowboys House Girls Campus, combined graduates in the Cert III Hospitality and the new Cert III in Retail, offered by the program for the first time.

Also joining the graduating classes were four previous Cert III Hospitality graduates who have continued their studies to complete a Diploma in Hospitality Management, with the support of their Dream, Believe, Achieve mentors.

Training in these qualifications is proudly delivered by club training partner Allara Learning.

Allara Learning Qld State Manager Arthur Burchett said it had been a moving experience to hear how the program is changing lives.

"I truly believe this is the best program to set people up to go into our industry.

"The support from the mentors, Marian and Alby, combined with our trainers, sets our students up for success.

"A massive thank you to our industry supporters – to enable our students to go out into the field and get that real-life experience is a true recipe for success."

Dream, Believe, Achieve was established in 2015 and has helped hundreds of unemployed and disadvantaged North Queenslanders.

The program is funded by the Queensland Government through its ‘Skilling Queenslanders for Work’ initiative.
