North Queensland Toyota Cowboys junior contracted player Garrett Smith has been called into the Queensland Under 20s squad ahead of next Wednesday’s State of Origin curtain-raiser at ANZ Stadium.
It has been a big week for the 19-year-old, after the Mackay junior made his Queensland Cup debut for the Cutters on Sunday afternoon.
The middle forward has been averaging 147.7 running metres and 4.5 tackle breaks a game playing for the Cutters under 20s team this season.
Smith will join six fellow Cowboys contracted players in Sydney, as the young Maroons look to go back-to-back for the first time.
