For the second straight week, the Mackay Cutters under 20s side will play as a curtain raiser to the Toyota Cowboys NRL clash with the Storm at 1300SMILES Stadium tomorrow night, giving North Queensland fans another opportunity to watch two of the standout prospects Cowboys Pathways Program in action.
Prop Garrett Smith, a 2018 Queensland under 18s representative, and hard-running winger Walter Lauenstein will suit up for the Cutters when they take on the Tweed Heads Seagulls.
Smith has enjoyed a strong start to the season with the Cutters, averaging just shy of 150 running metres, five tackle breaks and 24 tackles a game.
His Round 2 performance against Souths Logan was nothing short of sensational. Smith ran for 233 metres, scored a try, registered two line breaks, broke nine tackles and chipped in 19 tackles in a 38-12 Cutters win.
A new addition to the Cowboys Pathways Program, Lauenstein has impressed through the early parts of the season.
The 19-year-old has scored four tries and is averaging a massive eight tackle breaks and 134 running metres an outing.
The Cutters v Seagulls curtain raiser kicks off at 5.35pm.
