A host of the brightest talents in North Queensland Toyota Cowboys Pathways Program will be on show at 1300SMILES Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Cowboys feeder clubs the Townsville Blackhawks and Mackay Cutters will clash in a Hastings Deering Colts (under 20s) showdown, which will double as a curtain-raiser for the Cowboys Round 4 fixture against the Raiders.

The battle between Blackhawks prop Wiremu Grieg and Cutters big-man Garrett Smith, who are both contracted to the Cowboys, shapes as the headline showdown.

The duo have been tearing apart opposition defences through the first four rounds of the season. Smith sits third in the competition for running metres at 164 a game, while Grieg is just behind in fourth at 147. Cutters winger Walter Lauenstein, also contracted to the Cowboys, rounds out the top five at 143 metres per game.

Lauenstein has been in terrific form throughout the opening five rounds, with his 30 tackle breaks ranking fourth in the competition, just ahead of the fifth-placed Smith who has registered 25.

Other Cowboys contracted youngsters in action include the large Blackhawks contingent of fullback Daejarn Asi, wingers Ty Everett and Zinzaan Martin, center Michael Bell, second-rower Nathan Barrett and lock Ben Condon.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 2.10pm
