Winning with Try for 5!

Of the 14 schools that participated in the 2018 Sun Metals Try for 5! School attendance challenge, Bwgcolman Community School have come out on top, with an improvement in attendance of over 9 percentage points.

The first prize, a signed and framed Cowboys jersey, will be delivered at the beginning of next year, along with the final results of the challenge.

During Term 4 visits Matt and Ray asked students to share what they've learned this year with the Try for 5! program:

How do you 'Try for 5!'?
"Wake up with the right attitude."
"Make sure you're on time for the bus, otherwise you'll miss it!"
"Listen to mum when she tells me to get ready."
"I eat healthy food and stay active."
"I go to bed early."

What's the best part of 'Try for 5!'?
"Seeing Ray Thompson and Matty Bowen."
"The video's that motivate us."
"Not missing out on stuff and seeing your friends."
"You become smarter if you go to school every day!"
"Competing with other schools."

Why is 'Try for 5!' important to you?
"It encourages us to come to school."
"You get rewarded for your hard work and recognised for good attendance."
"It helps you to set goals."
"If you're away from school you have to catch up later."
"Because you come to school every day and get good marks."
