Season review: Sam Hoare

Injuries have cruelled the career of talented prop Sam Hoare and tragically the trend continued in 2018.

After an impressive start to the season in the Queensland Cup with Mackay, Hoare was called up to the NRL squad for the Round 13 clash with Manly.

Starting in the front-row, the 27-year-old ran for 79 metres and chipped in 25 tackles in a 26-12 victory over the Sea Eagles.

Hoare was solid again the following week and appeared to have nailed down a spot in Paul Green's side, but tore his ACL for the third time in Round 15 against the Warriors and missed the rest of the season.

Off-contract at the end of 2018, Hoare finished his Cowboys career with 21 NRL appearances.

2018 stats:

Games: 3
Average runs: 8
Average run metres: 62
Average tackles: 24
