Season review: Ben Hampton

One of the NRL's most versatile players, Ben Hampton continued to thrive as the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys' 'Mr Fix It' again in 2018.

With Lachlan Coote battling a hamstring injury, Hampton began the season at fullback and provided a real jolt of energy into Paul Green's side.

When Coote returned to the top grade in Round 6, Hampton moved to centre and continued to shine, scoring tries in his first two outings on the right edge.

The 26-year-old reverted back to the bench utility role he played for the majority of 2017 in Round 12 and remained there until Round 23.

Hampton saved his best football for last in 2018.

With regular No.1 Te Maire Martin missing through an ankle injury, Hampton moved back to fullback for the final two games of the season and scored memorable doubles in both games.

2018 stats:

Games: 22
Tries: 8
Line-breaks: 12
Tackle-breaks: 67
Average runs: 8
Average run metres: 73
