Premiers Melbourne Storm will open a blockbuster NRL Telstra Premiership Finals Series on Friday night against South Sydney Rabbitohs at AAMI Park.

The NRL today confirmed the times and venues for Week One of the Telstra Premiership Finals Series, which will also feature a clash between minor premiers Sydney Roosters and 2016 Premiers Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

Week One of the Finals will feature;

  • Melbourne Storm against the Rabbitohs at AAMI Park on Friday night;
  • Penrith Panthers against the Warriors on Saturday at ANZ Stadium;
  • Sydney Roosters facing the Sharks on Saturday night at Allianz Stadium;
  • Brisbane Broncos against St George Illawarra Dragons in an elimination match-up on Sunday afternoon at Suncorp Stadium.

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said the opening weekend of the Finals Series offered some wonderful match-ups.

“Based on how the top eight unfolded, our Finals Series is likely to be incredibly close,” Mr Greenberg said.

“Just two points separated the entire top eight, which highlights how open the Finals Series will be.

“Anything can happen on any given day and I’m sure we will see the closeness of the regular season replicated in the Finals Series.

“This will be a great way to kick off the Finals Series.”
