XXXX Derby igniting Queensland rivalry

North Queensland Toyota Cowboys foundation partner XXXX are excited to officially announce the inaugural 'XXXX Derby' against the Broncos, this Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.

Set to be one of the blockbuster games of the season with a huge crowd, XXXX as a foundation partner of the Cowboys and long-term partner of the Broncos are proud to show their support for this and future derbies.

With its origin steeped in rugby league history, harking back to the XXXX Queensland Challenge era, the official XXXX Derby trophy is up for grabs for the first time this Friday.

Created from original wood used in the building of the Castlemaine Perkins Brewery, the trophy will be presented to the winning captain after the clash, and housed in their Leagues Club between derby matches.

“We are really excited to continue our ongoing partnership with both clubs and celebrate the great rivalry between these two teams by launching the XXXX Derby,” XXXX Marketing Manager Richard Knight said.

“XXXX is all about bringing people together, to share games like this. We can’t wait to show our support for what promises to be a cracking game.”

A Foundation partner of the Cowboys, XXXX recently renewed their major partnership on a multi-year deal, making it one of the club’s longest standing corporate sponsors.

Cowboys co-captain Johnathan Thurston said the team had been looking forward to this game through the pre-season.

“It’s definitely one of most passionate rivalries our competition has seen and it’d be great to be the first team to bring the XXXX Derby trophy home to North Queensland,” Thurston said.

Fans will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the XXXX Derby trophy and Broncos and Cowboys legends – head to the Precinct Bar at Suncorp Stadium pre-game from 6pm.
