North Queensland Toyota Cowboys halfback Michael Morgan has delivered one of the great understatements, describing champion Melbourne Storm halfback Cooper Cronk as “pretty good”.

His words dripping with irony, Morgan lauded his fellow Queenslander ahead of the Cowboys’ crucial home game against competition leaders the Storm.

The Cowboys would love a win to consolidate their top four credentials following a tough loss to the Roosters last start.

Morgan said Cronk was the puppet-master in the Storm team, the wily No.7 running the Storm around the park with class and intelligence.

“Cooper is pretty good,” Morgan deadpanned. “He runs the team so well and they all learn their opposition’s game plan pretty well, so we’ll definitely need to be focused and committed.”

Tonight's game at 1300SMILES Stadium kicks off at 7.50pm.
