One of the modern-day National Rugby League's longest-running principal partnerships will surge ahead into the future after Toyota and the North Queensland Toyota Dealers announced a renewed agreement with the North Queensland Cowboys today.

The region’s NRL team have been the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys since 2003, and that proud association will continue after a new multi-year partnership was struck.

Boom Cowboys forward Jason Taumalolo – who in March made his own long-term commitment to the club with a 10-year contract extension – was on hand at The Ville Resort-Casino to announce the renewed partnership.

Taumalolo was joined by Cowboys CEO Greg Tonner and Toyota Australia’s Senior Divisional Manager - Sales and Marketing, Sean Hanley.

“For us to be successful on the field, we need strong support off the field, and at the Cowboys we’re so blessed to have committed partners like Toyota,” Taumalolo said.

“I’ve pledged a long-term commitment to this great club, and Toyota and the North Queensland Toyota Dealers have done the same, having been our principal sponsor for 15 years … and counting.

Mr Hanley said the extended partnership highlighted the shared values of the two entities, with community engagement a high priority.

“We see every day what the Cowboys mean to North Queensland, and we’re so proud to be associated with a team so highly regarded and respected in the area in which they operate.”

“With such initiatives as the Toyota Good for League Raffle – which helps provide much-needed equipment and resources for grassroots rugby league clubs in the region – we can leverage off each other to benefit the wider community.

“Toyota already has a fantastic relationship with the Cowboys Community Foundation – the club’s fundraising arm – and this renewed partnership will only strengthen that connection.

“We look forward to delivering many more great community programs working in conjunction with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys.”

Mr Tonner said the longevity of Toyota’s principal sponsorship of the Cowboys was a clear sign that each partner deeply values the ethos, values and community focus of the other.

“Fruitful partnerships are borne out of a win-win arrangement,” Mr Tonner said.

“That’s certainly the case here. Toyota has been by far our longest-running principal partner. Each organisation is enormously proud of the partnership, and that’s because it’s a perfect fit in such a connected, committed and passionate community.

“NQ is the Cowboys and the Cowboys are NQ.

"Toyota Australia and the North Queensland Toyota Dealers help us continue to run the club at a high level and to effectively reach more people with our engagement programs.”

The North Queensland Toyota Dealers are a collective of nine dealerships operating a total of 13 Toyota outlets in Townsville, Cairns, Atherton, Innisfail, Mareeba, Tully, Ingham, Mount Isa, Charters Towers, Ayr, Bowen, Proserpine and Mackay.
