Michael Morgan says he’s feeling physically and mentally fresh amid a busy schedule including Saturday’s crunch Round 14 game against the Eels in Darwin.

A member of Queensland's Game I State of Origin team, Morgan backed up from last Wednesday’s inter-state blockbuster to play a starring hand in the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ 20-8 win over the Gold Coast Titans in Townsville.

Wearing No.7 on his back, the talented playmaker scored a try, set up another and ran strongly with the ball all night, as well as providing starch in defence.

He put one particularly effective shot on Titans’ star Jarryd Hayne to be among the Cowboys’ best on the night.

And after getting an extra training day off due to an increased recent workload, Morgan said he was ready to tackle the Eels in their Top End ‘home game’.

“Not only physically, but mentally, I feel good after the business of last week, then returning to the club,” Morgan said.

“The coaching and HPU (high-performance unit) staff do a great job managing workloads and training, so I know I’ll be ready to go against the Eels on Saturday night."

Morgan is slated to partner rookie Kyle Laybutt in the halves against the Eels, with co-captain Johnathan Thurston racing the clock to be fit after hurting his shoulder in the Anzac Test in April.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 7.30pm Saturday, Queensland time.
