Veteran North Queensland Toyota Cowboys winger Antonio Winterstein has fond memories of playing in Darwin and is looking for a repeat of history at TIO Stadium on Saturday.

The seasoned campaigner, 29, is one of three players in this week’s named 17 to have played the Roosters in Darwin in 2012.

The Cowboys belted the Sydneysiders 50-12 on that steamy April night with Winterstein bagging a double.

Five years on and North Queensland return to the Top End for Saturday’s Round 14 National Rugby League clash, this time against the Eels.

“It was a great trip last time. As rugby league players, it’s always good to see different parts of the country and we came away with a good win on that occasion,” Winterstein said.

“We’ll be going up there this weekend hoping for another good performance, but it’s a different team and different circumstances, so we’re all looking forward to it.”

Winterstein has been strong since his return to the field after consecutive injuries cruelled the first part of his season.

He’ll line up for his seventh game of the year after missing six of the first seven games.
