North Queensland Toyota Cowboys fullback Lachlan Coote says the confidence gained from his successful return from a troublesome calf injury will stand him in good stead for the remainder of the season.

Coote got through all but the last minute of the Cowboys’ Round 10 match against the Bulldogs last Thursday, with a slight cramp causing minor ripples of concern among Cowboys medical staff.

But it was simply precautionary with the game comfortably won and Coote – who has missed a total of six games over two stints on the sideline – says he’s better for the run and considers himself rehabilitated.

“I got through everything I needed to heading into that Bulldogs game, all my results on the GPS have been good, and I’m hitting the targets, so it’s certainly good to be back playing again,” Coote said.

Coote said he hoped he brought some good energy back into the team with his return last-start, something he would look to continue to provide against the Sharks in Sydney on Thursday.

“Playing in Sydney, you’re not going to get much from the crowd, so we need to generate that ourselves,” he said.

Thursday’s game against the Sharks at Southern Cross Group Stadium kicks off at 7.50pm.
