Help promote discussion, awareness and action on domestic violence by visiting LGIAsuper Community Hub and community organisations North Queensland Women’s Legal Service (NQWLS), Relationships Australia, Zonta and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Legal Services North Queensland (ATSIWLSNQ).
Queensland Police Sergeant Megan Benson said that the opportunity to collaborate with the Cowboys, LGIAsuper and local community organisations is a chance to promote change and contribute to the long-term prevention of violence.
“It is important to send our simple message – “keep your hands to yourself” – into the home, and this can be achieved by using the Cowboys and their well-respected name in the community,” Sergeant Benson said.
“The campaign is about targeting the Townsville community as a starting point, and this includes the Safe Night Precinct and local secondary schools.”
For Senior Constable Kara Field, reducing alcohol and drug-related assaults – particularly in the form of domestic violence – is a key priority in any community.
“Whilst attitudes cannot be changed overnight, through this project and with the support of the Cowboys, and major partner LGIAsuper, we can strive for a community free from violence, where people can feel safe inside their home,” Constable Field said.
LGIAsuper is proud to help promote discussion about domestic violence, which has such a profound impact on our community. Teaming up with the Cowboys gives LGIAsuper the opportunity to drive positive change through education and social initiatives.
