The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys love receiving letters of support from members and fans, but a note from one of our youngest members – Jai, 5 weeks – certainly made for an inspiring read!

Super Star member Charlotte and her husband, currently living in Brisbane, sent the letter purely to share the news that another Cowboys supporter had entered the world.

“Both my husband and I are big fans of the Cowboys, and we have recently welcomed Jai as a new addition to the family; we just wanted to let the team know there is another die-hard supporter out there!” Charlotte said.

Originally from New Zealand, the Bryant family lived in Townsville before moving south for work commitments, but say their hearts will always remain with the Cowboys.

“We love what the club stands for and what it does for the community, particularly regional Queensland which I think has been really important given recent hard times," Charlotte said.

“The team plays hard but fair and there is a mutual respect both amongst them, and for the opposition.

“We would love to introduce Jai to the game when he's older as it's a great sport, not just physically but for the social aspect. We would love for him to learn to be a team player and to develop good sportsmanship.”

Dear the Mighty Cowboys

Hi guys, my name is Jai Darius Bryant. I wanted to say hi to you all and let you know I think the world of you boys.  I’m pretty new to this world only being five weeks old but let me just say I’m already a huge fan just like my Mum and Dad.

I’ve got big aspirations to one day be a North Queensland Cowboy and I know I’ve got a lot to learn so you can count on me to be in full support every game with my gear on learning from the best in the business.

When I’m napping – which is quite a lot at the moment, I think about whether I’ll be doing big hit ups like Matt Scott or mowing the opposition down like the hulk Taumalolo. I could guard the backline like O’Neill or run like the wind just like Winterstein. I might be a back rower like the greats Lowe and Cooper or do some towering kicks like Feldt. Or I could be the next young gun like Morgan. Anyone I think of in the team has something special, from Granville the top notch central Queenslander to Hess who has such a bright future in the club. Finally I can’t forget to mention Coach Green who is doing a brilliant job moulding you boys into champions.

But Thurston you are THE MAN! When I was growing Dad kept saying he wanted to name me Johnathan Thurston Bryant. You’re tough and determined with incredible vision and strategy on field. Off field you’re a considerate and caring family man. You play the game with skill like no other player. You’re an inspiration with great sportsmanship; you will be immortalised in gold. If I grow up to have even half of your attributes I will be doing well. I hope to one day meet you and shake your hand, my hero!

This is all thirsty work just thinking about it so I’m off to get some milk but keep an eye out for me, your number one fan!

Yours sincerely

Jai Darius Bryant
