North Queensland Toyota Cowboys supporter Rhonda Perrett was treated to a special front row experience at the team’s first home game, with premium seats on the Shine Sofa – thanks to major partner and membership sponsor Shine Lawyers.

The year one teacher was invited to the Sofa in recognition of her dedication to the students at the newly opened NRL Cowboys House, where she tutors each week.

“The staff at the House are amazing, and it really gives you a whole new insight into the role of the Foundation and what they are working to achieve,” Ms Perrett said.

“I love helping the students; the boys are just so adorable.”

After relocating to Townsville from the Sunshine Coast two and a half years ago, Rhonda soon fell for the community-owned club, much to the dismay of her Broncos-aligned family.

“My favourite Cowboys moment was a Queensland derby game in 2016, where my family all went along to celebrate my sister’s fiftieth birthday.

“Our group were divided, with half supporting the Broncos and the other half in Cowboys jerseys – it made for some friendly rivalry!

“My nephew and his son were in Broncos colours, and his wife and daughter sported the blue and grey, so that was fun to watch – especially when we won the game in the end.”

Rhonda says that although it might seem cliché, her favourite Cowboys player is co-captain Johnathan Thurston.

“He is an incredible human being, with everything that he does for North Queensland and for Indigenous communities throughout Australia.

“And I just love his laugh!”

The exclusive Shine Sofa, complete with food and beverage package, will host four guests every home game – it's Shine's way of acknowledging community contribution and the invaluable support for North Queensland’s national rugby league team.
