Dealing with the Broncos attack – especially deep in Cowboys territory, has been a key focus for North Queensland this week, says fullback Lachlan Coote.

Speaking ahead of the eighth NRL meeting between the sides since Round 3, 2015, Coote said the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have prepared well for the Broncos on a six-day turnaround, as the team looks to post back-to-back wins to kick-start their 2017 premiership tilt.

“I see my role on Friday night as really trying to help the team do well defensively, especially on our goal line," Coote said.

"I need to be communicating really well, getting the boys in the right positions and getting our spacings right.

“Obviously, we have to defend their kicks as well.”

Despite the expected cauldron-like atmosphere at Suncorp, Coote said the noise, colour and movement would not hinder his performance under the high ball.

“You don’t really notice the crowd there once you’re locked into the game,” he said, adding he would be ready for the kicking threat posed by clever Broncos halfback Ben Hunt.

Tonight's game kicks off at 7.05pm and will be live on Channel 9.
