The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are all but assured a place in the NRL Auckland Nines quarter-finals after downing the Canberra Raiders 35-6 this afternoon.

Backing up from a first-up win over the Roosters, the Cowboys looked in lethal attacking touch, bolting to a 14-0 lead at the break.

Outside backs Kyle Feldt, Gideon Gela-Mosby and Javid Bowen posted tries in the first stanza, Gela-Mosby's spectacular flying effort wowing the Eden Park crowd.

Youngster Kalyn Ponga opening the Cowboys second-half account with a runaway effort courtesy of a magical Johnathan Thurston pass.

Gela-Mosby then saluted for the fifth time in the tournament, while Ponga also bagged a second.

The Cowboys meet the Rabbitohs on Sunday in their final pool game – kick off at 10.05am Qld.
