St James Retirement Village | John Asiata

Staff and residents at Heatley’s Churches of Christ Care St James Retirement Village recently rolled out the welcome mat in glorious and colourful fashion when they hosted North Queensland Toyota Cowboys players John Asiata and Kane Linnett.

The village was decked out in Cowboys colours for the visit as Kane and John mingled with residents and staff, with John treating those gathered to some of his skills on the piano for a song or two.

Among the residents at St James is former two-time Olympic hockey player and Tokyo bronze medallist Mervyn Crossman.

“The boys love doing these sorts of visits,” Kane said. “You can see how much it means to the residents and we were chuffed that they went to such a huge effort to show their support.”

Staff organised a 'best dressed' competition, with Kevin McLean winning a box of chocolates thanks to the effort he made in getting kitted out in club colours.

Thanks for your hospitality and support, St James Retirement Village!
