Townsville Blackhawks v Ipswich Jets
Sunday, 27 September at Suncorp Stadium, 3.55pm
Referee
: Clayton Sharpe

After months of wowing their opposition with brilliant attacking footy couple with genuine power through the middle, the Townsville Blackhawks have one final hurdle to overcome in Sunday Intrust Super Cup decider against a dynamic and all-conquering Ipswich Jets lineup.

The Blackhawks have been the competition’s benchmark all year and only lost a handful of matches in their debut season. But the Jets are on a finals roll and completely outclassed the fancies PNG Hunters last weekend to advance to the decider. The Jets are one of only two teams to down the Blackhawks in 2015, so will be relying on that big-game experience to cause an upset.

But the Townsville outfit is disciplined, well-coached and boast NRL-quality throughout the roster, including North Queensland Cowboys-contracted quartet Glenn Hall, Kelepi Tanginoa, Robert Lui and Zac Santo. Add the possibility of Ray Thompson – named as Cowboys’ 18th man for their trip to Melbourne and an NRL preliminary final against the storm – and the Blackhawks are shaping as a formidable opponent in the biggest game of the year.
