The Western Lions Pride have won the 2015 Laurie Spina Shield with an 16-8 victory over fellow Townsville team Brothers White in front of a large and vocal crowd at 1300SMILES Stadium this afternoon.

Hosted by the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys and sponsored by Fantastic Furniture, the annual showpiece under-11s rugby league carnival saw 64 teams play at least six games across two days, with the final played as the main curtain-raiser to the round 16 Cowboys v Sharks NRL match.

The two teams made it through to the final via six pool matches, a quarter-final and semi-final in a carnival showcasing teams from all over Queensland, plus a side from the Northern Territory.

Carnival namesake and inaugural Cowboy Laurie Spina was on hand to present the shield to the winning team.
