North Queensland Toyota Cowboys head coach Paul Green has recommitted to the club for another three seasons, remaining at the helm of the team until the end of the 2018 season.

The second-year NRL head coach joined the Cowboys at the start of the 2014 season and since then has guided the Cowboys to their seventh overall finals appearance, and currently holds a coaching record of 24 wins from 38 games (63 per cent success rate), making him the winningest coach in Cowboys’ history.

In announcing Green’s re-signing, Cowboys chairman Laurence Lancini said the club was proud and honoured to have Green extend his stay in North Queensland, adding he was the perfect fit to lead the team into the future.

“Paul has had tremendous success at the Cowboys in his time here already, and the board and the broader Cowboys family are thrilled he will continue to lead the football team for the next three seasons,” Lancini said.

“He’s had an important hand in re-signing a number of our key players, and the three-year deal brings a great deal of stability heading into the future.

"Also, Paul has a deep understanding of the importance of the club to the North Queensland community.”

Green said that staying at the Cowboys for at least three more years was ideal for him on a number of fronts.

“I’m really happy to have the future settled and excited about where the club is going with the footy program,” he said.

“Given my wife Amanda is from Home Hill, the whole family feels settled in North Queensland. It’s a perfect fit for all of us.

“I’ve got a great bunch of players here to work with and I'm thrilled about what the future holds for the Cowboys.

"I’ve got a very good staff, a terrific playing group and a tremendously supportive board.”
