TOWNSVILLE BLACKHAWKS v WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS
4.30pm, Saturday 4 April, Jack Manski Oval
Referee: Chris Anderson
The Townsville Blackhawks face their toughest test at home on Saturday when they face Wynnum Manly Seagulls at Jack Manski Oval.
The Seagulls came off a strong win against Souths Logan last weekend, but having posted their second 50-plus score in as many weeks, Townsville will be confident of their chances.
It’s the first time these two have met, but the Blackhawks may have a slight advantage with Wynnum having only won one of their past seven away games – Townsville are two from two at home.
IPSWICH JETS v NORTHERN PRIDE
5pm, Saturday 4 April, North Ipswich Reserve
Referee: Michael Gordon
Northern Pride have a 9-6 winning record over the Ipswich Jets, but their form of late wouldn’t warrant such confidence.
The Cairns-based side are yet to notch a win on the board this season and come up against a formidable Jets outfit who have proved they are no easy push-overs.
But last year’s champions have faced adversity before – in 2010 they lost their opening three games before going on to win the grand final at Suncorp.
MACKAY CUTTERS v NORTHS DEVILS
6pm, Saturday 4 April, Stadium Mackay
Referee: Tim Rutherford
Mackay have one of the best defences in the league so far and it may be a tough trip up for Norths Devils who sit 11th on the ladder.
The Cutters haven’t lost at home to the Brisbane side since 2010, and have proved their home is a fortress with some solid victories at their ground.
Forward Tyson Martin comes into the 17 while Ryan Kinlyside has been added to an extended bench.
