• The mild-mannered ways of Ben Hannant occasionally get let a little loose, especially when it comes to motorbikes. The Cowboys prop loves nothing more than jumping on his Victory Hammer and hitting the tar when he can.

• Speaking of quads, seems our man mountain Jason Taumalolo has upped his regime in the weights room. The big fella squatted 213kg up from 184kg six weeks ago. Look forward to some steamrolling runs in 2015.

• Glenn Hall, Johnathan Thurston and Michael Morgan were a few of the boys who were out in support of the JCU Townsville Fire in their quest to win the WNBL Championship last Sunday. It was a red letter day for the women’s basketball squad, who became the first Queensland team to win the title, 75-65 defeating the Bendigo Spirit.

• It seems there’s still plenty of life in some of our coaching and high performance staff, with a few of the boys playing in the Tuesday night Over 30’s touch comp. Assistant coach Dave Furner rolled back the clock with a hat-trick in this week’s game. Paul Green, John Cartwright, Micheal Luck and Ash Graham are just a few of the boys who still lace up the boots.

• Looking at the stats from the Roosters game you would’ve thought the scoreline was very different. The Cowboys had more possession and less errors than the Sydney boys.

• Matt Scott continues to show how much of a leader he is in the team. After leading the way with 18 hit-ups for 149 metres last Saturday night, the Australian and Queensland star was seen doing extra sprint training during the week.

• In keeping with the recent North Queensland weather, the club will be holding its first Tropicana-themed game night against the Knights on Saturday night. Members and fans are encouraged to dress in their tropical gear to join in with all the fun – look out for the selfie comp on the big screen, dress-up giveaways at the gates plus much more.

Kelepi Tanginoa got an extra 21st present this week when Paul Green named him to start off the bench against the Knights for his Cowboys debut. Kelepi has played 13 NRL games for the Eels.

• Congratulations to our game day comp winner from last Saturday night – Craig Greenaway has won a $150 Stockland Townsville voucher. Look out for the Fan Desk outside the Northern gate this week for your chance to win.
