Hometown boy Ross Bella has been promoted to the North Queensland Cowboys' NYC team’s forward pack for this evening’s pre-season trial against the Mackay Cutters at Stadium Mackay.

The son of former Test and Origin prop Martin Bella replaces Braden Uele in the front-row with the Junior Kiwi to be part of tonight’s NRL trial between the Cowboys and Broncos.

First-year NYC Cowboy Taha Tutavake has dropped off the interchange bench after suffering a bad cork to his leg during training this week.

Second-rower Kieran Quabba will captain the Cowboys and will be part of a strong forward pack that includes 18-year-old Coen Hess, who played for NQ in the NRL Auckland Nines at the weekend.

Today’s match will be played over four 20-minute quarters with unlimited interchange and will kick off at 4.30pm.
