North Queensland forward Ethan Lowe has been given a two-game suspension by the NRL following an investigation into player betting by the NRL’s Integrity Unit.

An account in Lowe’s name placed two bets on NRL matches at the start of the 2013 season.

“These were two small bets – $10 and $20 – which contravene his NRL contract,” Cowboys CEO Peter Jourdain said.

“While Ethan does not recall making the bets which were both made on one weekend when he was not playing for the Cowboys, the NRL has decided punishment is warranted because they were in an account bearing his name.

“No winnings were collected and the account concerned was closed after proper identification was not provided to confirm the identity of the account owner.”
