The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys’ Field of Dreams program and Stockland Townsville will make it possible for 30 clients of the Salvos’ Grace Cottage to have a night out at the football on Saturday night.

They will receive tickets to sit in the Field of Dreams section at 1300SMILES Stadium to watch the Toyota Cowboys take on reigning NRL premiers, the Sydney Roosters.

“Few lives are untouched today by the major social problems associated with drugs and alcohol,” Grace Cottage social worker Claire Twivey said.

“It is important to know that there is help and support available and Grace Cottage is one such support – specifically for women.”

Grace Cottage is a non-discriminatory service for women in addiction, in recovery from addiction, or who know people affected by addiction.

“We provide information, treatment and support for women in some of the most trialling times of their lives,” Claire said.

“We offer free confidential counselling, making the service accessible to everyone.

"Our aim is to journey with women to a point where they experience hope, healing and personal wholeness.

“The North Queensland Cowboys Field of Dreams is a fantastic initiative and the generosity of Stockland in providing game tickets means that our Grace Cottage clients can relax and spend some extra social time together.”

Since it started, the Cowboys Field of Dreams program has given more than 2000 special individuals in the community the opportunity to watch their heroes live in action at 1300SMILES Stadium.

“Each game day, one of our Field of Dreams sponsors donates 30 home game tickets to a charity in recognition of their valuable contributions to our local community,” Fiona Pelling, Cowboys community relations manager said.

“Stockland’s generous support of the program means that everyone attending the game will get to learn about Grace Cottage and its fantastic work to help local women in need.”
