Women keen to play rugby league are invited to join a short local competition season to be played in Cairns commencing on 2 May.

Players from 16 years of age can register for the four-week season at Vico Oval (Kangaroos) from 4.30pm on Monday 28 April, with training sessions planned for Wednesday afternoon and games to be played at Vico Oval on Friday evenings from 2-23 May.

QRL regional coordinator Dave Maiden said the players will also be eligible for selection for the Cairns team and subsequently the NQ team.

β€œThe NQ selection trials will be held in Cairns on the weekend of 31 May - 1 June and we expect some very competitive games with players from Torres St, Cape York, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns vying for selection into the North Queensland team.”
