About to start his twelfth season in the NRL, Toyota Cowboys front-rower Ashton Sims can sense the excitement among his teammates ahead of their first pre-season trial tomorrow night.

North Queensland will take on Brisbane over four 20-minute quarters at Dolphin Oval with Sims to start in an experienced forward pack despite Test duo Matt Scott and James Tamou being rested.

“There’s a lot of excitement around. We’ve been training hard for a long time now,” Sims said before travelling south today.

“It’s good to be able to enjoy a bit of football now on the weekends.

“I know the boys are really looking forward to getting out there and having a good dig.”
