New head coach Paul Green will have the chance to meet thousands of North Queensland Toyota Cowboys members and supporters for the first time at the club’s annual Community Day on Saturday 1 February.

The event will be open to the public at Townsville RSL Stadium and offers two hours of free entertainment, plus the chance to pick up a copy of the Cowboys’ official 2014 team poster.

It will also be a fantastic opportunity to welcome the newest Cowboys – Lachlan Coote, Cameron King, Hezron Murgha and John Asiata – as well as meet many of the players who took the club to the NRL finals for the third straight year in 2013, including co-captains Matthew Scott and Johnathan Thurston, fellow World Cup-winning Kangaroos Brent Tate and James Tamou and Cowboys membership ambassador Tariq Sims.

Along with the Cowboys coaching staff, they will be introduced on stage and then be available to sign autographs throughout the two hours.

As part of Community Day, the XXXX Push-Up Boys will run a special pass-the-ball competition with the winner to receive a Money Can’t Buy Experience at either the Cowboys’ round 4 clash with the Gold Coast Titans or the round 8 match against Parramatta, both at 1300SMILES Stadium.

The packed program includes rugby league skills coaching clinics with the Cowboys’ development team, fun activities for the kids, a Billabong Sanctuary interactive display, Townsville City Council’s Dads Read program, plus performances by the Spirit cheersquad and 1RAR band.

The afternoon’s activities will also include a presentation on Indigenous heritage at Cultural Corner, funded by the Australian Government, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, which will be a new feature at Cowboys’ home games in 2014.

Membership and merchandise, including the club’s new jersey range, will be on sale, and you can sign up as a 2014 season member on the day to go in the draw to win two tickets in the Captains’ Lounge corporate area at Cowboys v Raiders.

There’ll also be the chance to win the first 2014 Cowboys signed jersey just by answering a few simple questions, and giveaways from the Townsville Bulletin, Coca-Cola, Baskin-Robbins, and Stockland Townsville, and the opportunity to win a great accommodation package with Jupiters.

“The Community Day is a real sign that the season isn’t that far away,” co-captain Matthew Scott said.

“The players really enjoy the opportunity to meet the members and supporters who help make our club what it is.”

The Community Day will start at 2pm and run through until 4pm, and entry is free!
