New Toyota Cowboys NRL squad member Patrick Kaufusi has been selected in a 23-man squad to participate in the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) Junior Emerging Origin camp in Brisbane early next year.
Queensland Academy of Sport rugby league director Wayne Bennett and Maroons under-20s coach Kevin Walters will coordinate the camp, which is set to include field sessions and presentations on State of Origin history/culture.
Still eligible for the NYC under-20s next season, Kaufusi has joined the Cowboys full-time NRL squad for the first time in the 2014 pre-season after signing a two-year contract extension.
The 19-year-old forward played for the Maroons Junior Origin team against New South Wales last season and was second in the Cowboys NYC player of the year voting.
The four-day Emerging Origin camp will be held in Brisbane on 23-26 January.
Eleven NRL clubs are represented in the 23 players and the squad features two players Broncos pair Corey Oates and Jordan Drew who made their NRL debuts this year.
