Try Time! was established in 2012 to deliver positive health, lifestyle and educational messages to primary and secondary schools across regional North Queensland.
A collaboration between the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, Education Queensland and BHP Billiton Cannington, the program's modules are tailored to each specific year level to ensure engagement by students across the region.
Cowboys players and staff are actively involved, delivering program messages on their visits to North Queensland schools.
Topics covered include "Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well", teamwork, goal setting, leadership and career pathways.
TRY TIME! ONLINE
Try Time! Online is an innovative online education program, established in 2009 in partnership with Education Queensland.
The program runs in line with school terms during the NRL season and involves regular online interaction with Cowboys players delivering educational modules through a secure virtual classroom provided by Education Queensland.
The virtual classroom features rich multimedia content about the players, incorporating videos, audio and images of their training environment.
In the program, students complete tasks in five modules that each focus on a different element of teamwork – these modules are supported by online chats with Cowboys players on leadership, healthy lifestyles and team building, including the question, ‘What makes a good team?’.
Over 1,500 students in years 5-7 in schools across Mackay/Whitsunday, North Queensland and far North Queensland participated in the program in 2011.

With a shared focus of supporting regional education throughout North Queensland, the Cowboys have joined with proud community partner BHP Billiton Cannington to deliver Try Time! and Try Time! Online to schools, in conjunction with Education Queensland and the Department of Education & Training’s Smart Classrooms Learning Place.
