Paul Green

Position: Head Coach

2017 is Green's fourth year in charge of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys.

In 2016 – the year after Green guided the team to a historic maiden premiership – the Cowboys made the finals for the sixth straight year, advancing all the way to the preliminary final before being defeated by eventual premiers Cronulla.

Stringing together another ultra-consistent season, Green’s Cowboys finished the regular season with a 15-9 record, the team finishing in fourth place heading into the finals.

The season included 11 wins from 12 regular season matches at 1300SMILES Stadium, a run of five straight wins from Rounds 5-9 and a memorable 20-0 Sunday arvo shutout of the Rabbitohs in Cairns.

A week one loss to the Storm was followed with another epic showdown with 2015 grand final opponents Brisbane before the team had its season ended by the Sharks.

Green enters his fourth year at the Cowboys with a stable squad. The departures of James Tamou , Ben Hannant and Rory Kostjasyn were offset with the arrival of ex-Storm utility Ben Hampton and former Canberra stalwart Shaun Fensom.

It was in his second year in charge of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, head coach Paul Green delivered the club an historic maiden NRL Premiership.

Following a heartbreaking second-week finals exit to the Sydney Roosters in 2014, Green piloted the team to premiership glory in 2015, where the Cowboys defeated the Brisbane Broncos 17-16 in golden point extra-time, in what has been hailed as the greatest NRL grand final of all time.

After the premiership year, the-then second-year NRL coach was rewarded for his success with the mid-season extension of his coaching contract, which will see him at the helm until 2018.

In a situation that was almost unheard of in the modern era, Green welcomed back all 17 of his grand final players to the Cowboys’ fold in 2016.
