Goal for 2013: Play footy for the Cowboys & Blues
The middle of the three rugby league playing Sims brothers from Gerringong, Tariq played for the New South Wales under-17s and was given his chance in the Toyota Cup under-20s competition by the Brisbane Broncos.
He played one NYC match in 2008, 27 in 2009 and 24 in 2010 when he was named the Toyota Cup Player of the Year and averaged 147 metres per game in attack.
Sims made his debut with the Cowboys in round two of the 2011 season and won the club’s Rookie of the Year Award, as well as being named as a finalist for Dally M Rookie of the Year and Second-Rower of the Year.
A double fracture of his leg ended his ’11 season prematurely and he was extremely unlucky to suffer a similar injury in 2012, but not before he played his first representative footy, scoring two tries for Country against City at Mudgee.
He has been part of the NSW Emerging Origin squad for the past two years.
