The next wave of North Queensland Toyota Cowboys have launched into pre-season training this week as the team welcomed back a fresh batch of well-rested athletes.

Led by rehabbing co-captains Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott, the Cowboys crew were put through their paces with a conditioning session at Cowboys HQ on Monday followed by a skills sessions at the Townsville Sports Reserve on Tuesday.

Scott (knee) and Thurston (shoulder) did modified work on both days, but both men are expected to be available for selection for Round 1, 2018 when the Cowboys host the Cronulla Sharks at 1300SMILES Stadium.

Included in the returning group alongside the veteran pair this week was winger Kyle Feldt, young tyro Coen Hess, injured forward Shaun Fensom (broken leg) and crafty utility Ben Hampton, who has impressed coaches with his fitness levels upon his return.

More players are due to return to training next week.
