Students from 15 Townsville schools have taken part in School Tree Day, receiving more than 1,300 native trees to plant in their school grounds and some assistance from the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys!

Cowboys legend Brent Tate was on hand for the celebrations, with participants also having the chance to get up close and personal with native animals, thanks to Ranger Dan and Hands on Wildlife.

Wednesday's event comes ahead of the community celebration this Sunday for National Tree Day.

National Tree Day is organised by Planet Ark in partnership with Toyota, the North Queensland Toyota Dealers and Toyota's extensive dealer network, and encourages all Australians to come together with their local community, sporting group or local school to plant trees and give back to the environment.

Toyota's involvement in National Tree Day initiatives reflects their positive support of both the environment and local communities.
