North Queensland Toyota Cowboys centre Kane Linnett says the team is full of confidence and excited about the rest of the season as they prepare to face the Warriors in Townsville on Saturday.

Despite being without regular co-captain Matt Scott and Johnathan Thurston for the remainder of the season, the Cowboys are well placed for a strong run into the finals and will be shooting for four straight wins on Saturday.

“We’re all feeling good, we’ve had a good week at training, our Origin boys have had a little break after the Rabbitohs game and we’re excited about the rest of the season,” Linnett said.

“While Johnno and Thumper being out is massive, Morgs (halfback Michael Morgan) and Coops (captain Gavin Cooper) have been leading the team superbly and we’ve been responding, which is pleasing.”

Left-edge centre Linnett could be without his regular wingman in Antonio Winterstein on Saturday, the Samoan international in doubt for the game with a calf injury sustained last start in Cairns.

Winterstein had scans early in the week, which revealed a minor strain, the veteran winger reduced to light duties all week.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 7.30pm.
